Dear Parents,
My name is Staci Lucas and I am your child’s PreKindergarten Teacher.
I am very excited as we begin a new school year. I look forward to having
your child in my class this year. We are going to have a lot of fun together. I
am a graduate of Armstrong Atlantic State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. I am beginning my 22nd
year of teaching. I taught 5 years in the Chatham County Public School System at
Gould Elementary before coming to SCPS. This is my 17th year here. I began
teaching here the same year PreK moved to the Lower School from the Daycare. I
absolutely love my job. When I first began teaching, I remember thinking…you
mean I am actually getting paid to do this all day! Teaching is such a pleasure.
I always knew I wanted to teach. I am so glad God placed me in teaching and then
here at such a wonderful Christian school.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have two daughters.
Morgan is in the 12th. Allie is in the 5th grade. I like
reading, shopping, and spending time at the pool, beach or lake!
My goal for this year is to teach/challenge each student academically and
spiritually. I want them to further develop a love for learning and a love for our Savior.
Mrs. Mandi Gunn is my Teaching Assistant. Mandi worked at Isle of Hope UMC preschool for
6 years. She is beginning her 3rd year here at SCPS. Mandi and her husband, Brian, have 3
children at SCPS Derenne campus. Emma is in the 7th grade, Matthew is in the 5th grade,
and Luke is in the 3rd grade. She teaches Sunday School for 9th and 10th grade girls at
Southside Baptist Church. Mandi is currently pursuing her degree in Early Childhood
Education. Her goal for this year is to help prepare the children for Kindergarten, teach them
how to get along with others, and show the children the kind of love that she would want her
children to receive.
Again, I am ready for a FUN filled year. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to email me. That is the best way to communicate with me. Thank you in
advance for all your support.
